At Hortensia France we produce hortensia’s exclusively in a 14cm pot to maximize efficiency and offer the best value to our customers.
Hortensia France has over 34.000 cubic meters of cooling facilities to overwinter the entire production – a key element to produce a high quality product.
To ensure the best quality we work with machinery that is specifically designed for the production of hortensias.
EC and pH are measured once a week; these figures are used to decide the type and amount of fertiliser to be applied. Scouting for insects is carried out on a weekly basis to assist us in the pest control.
Flowering buds are analysed from the end of August onwards to determine the moment when the plants must be moved into the temperature controlled cold-stores. These production protocols are based on many years of Hydrangea growing experience and the Hydrangea crop is continuously monitored by tracing and tracking.
Through its intensive and historical collaborations with the Institute for Research and Seeds (IRHS), Hortensia France works closely together with the main players in greater Angers area concerning plant biology (INRAE, Agro Campus, and the university of Angers). Hortensia France is also a member of the Végépolys Vallée which certifies its collaborative research projects. The company’s Research & Development projects are partly subsidized by the Pays de la Loire Region and the European Union. All in all, Hortensia France is doing everything to develop its knowledge of the biology and cultivation methods of hydrangea’s.
The protection of our employees and the environment is a major concern for us. Since 2008, we have been a certified member of MPS, an international environmental standard for horticultural production, and currently enjoy a level ‘A’ status. To go further, we are also committed to an eco-design approach to carry out the analysis of the production life cycle of our hydrangea’s. This project is led by CNPH-Piverdière with the support of O2m Lab, a research and innovation office in CSR impacts.

The intense colours and large flowers combined with dark green foliage make Anda a striking hydrangea. The structure of the plant is moderately compact and the bulbs of the flowers are uniform in colour and size during flowering. The plant grows in a V-shape, allowing efficient arrangement of growing space in the later cultivation phase.
A strong plant with classic Hydrangea macrophylla appearance. With its pastel colours and dark green leaves, Ankong has earned a place in the hearts of many a hydrangea growers. Not without reason, a cultivation with the extremely strong Ankong is always successful. This makes Ankong an ideal product to start growing hydrangeas. Did you know that Ankong has a very high resistance to diseases?
Ankong's unique variegated sister is called Ankong Character. Character is just as vigorous, but much less classic. In fact, this hydrangea is variegated, making it an eye-catcher anyway. The flower is pale pink. The most exciting spectacle is in the leaves. It is dark green with a cream edge. Unique! Ankong Character is more sensitive during cultivation. Suitable as indoor hydrangea.
The wavy petals with the hint of green of the Bayview never get boring. And that's just as well because this hydrangea is strong, changes colour and has beautiful green leaves.
